Quick and Easy Coasters

These easy coasters are quick to make. Samples shown are worked in Country Cotton Cabled (blue and brown) and Southmaid Cotton 8 (pink). ![]() |
Materials needed:
- A sport weight cotton yarn should be similar in weight to the Country Cotton Cabled (CCC) and Southmaid Cotton 8 (SM8) I used for the samples. I got the CCC and SM8 on clearance at Wal-Mart and neither is available elsewhere near me. I made 5 coasters with 1 ball (77 yards) of CCC.
- Crochet hook size F (Increase or decrease your hook size if you crochet tightly or loosely.)
- Blunt end yarn needle
Gauge:
The finished coaster is about 4" across. Size will vary slightly depending on the yarn you use.Special Stitches:
- Beg Clus St (Beginning Cluster Stitch):
- Ch2, *yo, insert hook into next dc and pull loop through, yo and pull through first 2 loops on hook; repeat from * once; yo and pull through remaining 3 loops on hook.
- Clus St (Cluster Stitch):
- *yo, insert hook into next dc and pull loop through, yo and pull through first 2 loops on hook; repeat from * twice; yo and pull through remaining 4 loops on hook.
Instructions:
Chain 7. Sl st in first ch to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 1; *3 dc in ring, ch 1; Repeat from * 4 more times; sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3 to join.
Round 2: Beg clus st, ch 2, dc in ch 1 sp, ch 2; *Clus st in next 3 dc, ch 2, dc in ch 1 sp, ch 2; Repeat from * 4 more times; sl st into top of beg clus st to join.
Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as joining, ch 1, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1; *3 dc in top of clus, ch 1, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1; Repeat from * 4 more times; sl st into 3rd ch of beg ch 3 to join.
Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each dc and 2 sc in each ch 1 sp around. Sl st into beginning ch 1 to join. Finish off.
Finishing
Use yarn needle to weave yarn ends into the coaster.
